CPEC Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Punjab – Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) & Special Economic Zone (SEZ)

The official delegation from CoE-CPEC consisting of Dr. Saleem Janjua, Dr. Liaqat, and Mr. Adnan Khan visited the SEZ of Punjab on 16^th February 2018. The purpose of the visit was to collect the first hand information from the relevant stakeholders.

A meeting was also carried out with Mr. Aamir Saleemi, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) and Mr. Faisal Qasmi, Company Secretary and discussed the current status of the Faisalabad SEZ under CPEC framework. The layout, master plan, environmental compliance and regulatory mechanism for the industrial units in the subject zone were discussed in detail. The key achievements of FIEDMC in the subject zone are that 4,067 acres of land has been acquired and the land is ready for business at a cost of PKR 6.6 million per acre. Industries from China are being relocated in the zone, and the concerned authorities are vigilant in the administration of the zone and provision of basic operational necessities to the investors.

The delegation was of the view that CPEC has proved to be a game changer for the region and local industries. However, the benefits of the CPEC portfolio can be reaped by close working coordination of all relevant stakeholders.
