Measuring Socio-Economic Impacts of CPEC – Feedback Workshop

 CPEC, Centre of Excellence, China Pakistan, Pak-china friendship, COE CPEC, China Pakistan Economic CorridorProf. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform and Interior inaugurated the session of workshop and spoke about the socioeconomic impacts of CPEC interventions on 24th January 2018 at Centre of Excellence for CPEC, PIDE, Islamabad. Workshop was aimed to get the feedback about field instruments which will be used to establish the baseline. The Minister emphasized to establish baseline to quantify the socio-economic impacts of CPEC interventions. He appreciated the progress made by Center of Excellence for CPEC and encouraged to expedite the process to answer the most echoed question i.e. “How CPEC benefit common people”.

Centre received valuable inputs and feedback from experts, think tanks and consultants.

In the end of session, Dr. Amir Khan, Policy head talked about the progress and way forward. He told the audience that improved filed instruments would be piloted first for further improvement and then will be used for field survey.

This workshop will ultimately develop a baseline for different CPEC project to investigate the socio and economic impacts over a period of time. The results will be shared with relevant stakeholders for policy designing, redesigning and strategic decision making.
