Dr. Ghulam Akhmat

Senior Research Fellow Urban Development

Currently Dr. Ghulam Akhmat is affiliated with Centre of Excellence for China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CoE-CPEC) at Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) as Senior Research Fellow. With a PhD degree in Urban Planning from Huazhong University of Science & Technology, China, he has substantial grip on different aspects of urbanization across the globe, especially in the developing world. His research exposure is supported with practical experience. He also had opportunity of working in the University of Adelaide, Australia, in visiting scholarship arrangement. He had been research fellow at HUST where he taught courses to post graduate students entitled “Classical Work on Land Administration” and “Land Economics”. Courses highlighted and integrated the issues of land use policy, land management, spatial planning and urbanization in China. His experience has taught him how to build strong relationship with all sectors at organization level and has the ability to work within a team as well as cross team. His research interests include social and urban development, land management, new approaches to Geography, rapid urbanization and urban governance systems in the developing world.
