Gwadar Visit of T&IC Team

Trade & Industry team visited Gwadar and met with important authorities there including Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), and Chinese Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC). Team visited Gwadar free zone and discussed all future prospects, facilitation to be provided to business ventures and sorts of incentives offered to local as well as foreign investors for establishing industry in free zone. Also current issues and future challenges were discussed.

Dr. Liaqat Ali Shah (Head of Policy), Dr. Ahsan Abbas (SRF), and Ms. Faryal Maaz (RA) met Chairman, Mr. Dostain Khan Jamaldini at Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) office Gwadar. Mr. Jamaldini gave briefing on current and historical phases of Gwadar development. He also gave his suggestion for coming industry and their establishment inside and outside of free zone. Chairman GPA also highlighted the significance and important role east and west bay can play for future trade and industrialization.

Mr. Dadullah working at Chinese Overseas Port holding Company (COPHC) told about current capacity of berths at Gwadar port and potential for future cargo handling. Mr. Dadullah also shared some facts and figures of cargo being handled at GPA currently and capacity enhancement of port planned for future. He gave overview of free zone infra and facilities offered in it.

Trade & Industry Division officials visited Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) office to discuss the various aspects of mega projects implementation at Gwadar. The officials of GDA gave briefing on roles and responsibilities of the authority as well as they shared future plans for the Gwadar city. They told CoE officials how they are integrated with other authorities working in Gwadar, provincial bodies of Balochistan and they need participation from federal bodies in order to gain desired output of the projects timely and effectively.
