Launching Ceremony of CPEC Quarterly Magazine and Website

The Centre of Excellence for CPEC (CoE-CPEC) a think tank initiated by Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform (MoPDR) had a launching ceremony of its publication, “CPEC Quarterly” magazine  and the Centre’s exclusive and international standard website i.e.cpec-centre.pk inaugurated by honorable Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform and Minister for Interior and Excellency Mr. Yao Jing, Ambassador of China at MoPDR on 4th Jan. 2018. Mr. Shoaib  Ahmed Siddiqui, Secretary MOPDR, Dr. Asad Zaman, Vice Chancellor PIDE, Dr. Shahid Rashid, Executive Director (CoE-CPEC), Dr. Nadeem Javaid, Chief Economist (MoPDR) and other dignitaries, academicians, scholars and media personnel graced the occasion.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal thoroughly appreciated the Centre’s overall efforts to promote the cause of CoE-CPEC since its inception in March last year. In this limited span of time, centre has achieved remarkable achievements in policy shaping, research and also been helping a great deal in countering the misperceptions related to CPEC, he said. He further maintained that CPEC Quarterly magazine is a well thought out publication which is a step forward to enhance the horizon of policy makers, academicians, researchers, diplomats and masses at large. He was of the view that there is a dire need to disseminate and promote the understanding of CPEC which is going to change the destiny of our country. He also highlighted the importance of think tanks which are supposed to bring about original contribution to the world of knowledge that is evidence based, identifying gaps and then providing solution to the problems. He suggested that the centre should further focus on more opportunities and integrate national and international collaborators for furtherance of CPEC.

Excellency Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing maintained that it is an immense pleasure for him to inaugurate CPEC Quarterly magazine that is of its own kinds replete with information along with reports and articles of scholarly caliber. He further commented that in this day and age information technology plays an anchor role to spread the information to all and sundry. Therefore, the Centre’s website which is trilingual i.e. in English, Chinese and Urdu is a commendable effort on part of the host organization. He also appreciated the overall role of CoE-CPEC and opined that Chinese scholars are looking forward to work collaboratively and contribute in the CPEC Quarterly magazine.

The ceremony was concluded by the Executive Director of CoE-CPEC who underscored the different facets of the Centre and appreciated the team efforts behind the making of the magazine and the website.
